Troubleshooting Your Montek Monitor

Even the most reliable industrial monitors can run into occasional issues. At Montek, we’re here to help you identify and resolve problems quickly — so you can stay productive.

Before You Contact Support

If you’re experiencing issues, please have the following information ready. This helps us speed up your service request:

  • Model number
  • Serial number
  • Date of purchase
  • Brief description of the issue
  • Proof of purchase (e.g., invoice) if requested


Our team may first walk you through basic fixes via phone or email. If necessary, we’ll issue you an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number for product return.

Note: Customers are responsible for return shipping using original packaging. Installation/removal costs are not covered. If no issue is found under warranty, additional charges may apply.

Common Monitor Issues & Solutions

Blank Screen or No Backlight

Likely Cause: Faulty LED driver board
Solution: If your backlight system is working but the screen remains dark, the LED driver may be the problem. Replacing the driver board is usually the best fix.

Likely Cause: Sharpness setting too high
Solution: Use the OSD (on-screen monitor) to reduce sharpness. Adjust gradually until shadows disappear. If needed, perform a factory reset.

Likely Cause: LED light bar failure or individual diode burnout
Solution: Use a meter to test for current. If there’s none, the light bar likely needs replacement.

Likely Cause: Incorrect refresh rate
Solution: Reduce refresh rate from 75Hz to 60Hz if using analog mode. Refer to your model’s user manual for optimal settings.

Likely Cause: Faulty power outlet
Solution: Unplug the unit and try a different power source. If the issue persists, contact support.

Possible Causes:

  • Use of KVM switch or extension cable
  • Incorrect brightness/contrast settings
  • Clock or phase mismatch


Solution:
Connect directly using a standard cable. Adjust brightness, contrast, and sharpness. Reboot the system to reset signal settings.

Likely Cause: Temporary power issue
Solution: Unplug your computer, wait 1–2 minutes, then plug it back in.

Likely Cause: Non-native resolution
Solution: Set your LCD to its native resolution. This will eliminate text artifacts and line distortion.

Likely Cause: Panel manufacturing tolerance
Solution: Unfortunately, dead/stuck pixels cannot be repaired. LCD panel typically need 5–10 defective pixels to qualify for replacement under warranty.

Likely Cause: Static image left on screen too long
Solution: No fix available. The ghost image should fade over time.

Likely Cause: Pixel response issues (common in older models)
Solution: If persistent, consider upgrading to a newer panel with faster refresh response.

Likely Cause: Low brightness setting or failed LED diodes
Solution: Increase brightness using OSD. If image remains dim or only partially backlit, contact our support team.

  • Panel IC failure

Solution:

  1. Power reset the monitor and computer
  2. Run the monitor’s auto-setup
  3. Check cable connections and pins
  4. Swap cables to rule out signal issues

Limited Warranty Policy

Warranty Coverage

Montek warrants its High Brightness LCD products (“Product”) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from the original purchase date. If a defect is found during the warranty period, Montek will, at our discretion:

  • Repair the product with new or refurbished parts, or
  • Replace the product with a functionally equivalent unit.

All replacement parts or products are covered under the original warranty period or 90 days from the replacement date, whichever is longer. Customers are responsible for shipping defective items to Montek.

How to Request Warranty Service

To start a warranty claim:

  1. Contact Montek and provide the model number, serial number, purchase date, and a brief description of the issue.
  2. Proof of purchase (such as your invoice) may be required.
  3. Our support team will assist with troubleshooting. If the issue can’t be resolved remotely, we will issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)

Please note: You are responsible for shipping the defective item to Montek in its original packaging. We’ll cover the return shipping after repair or replacement.

What’s Not Covered

The warranty does not cover damage caused by:

  • Accidents, misuse, neglect, or improper installation
  • Electrical surges, water exposure, or environmental conditions outside the product’s design
  • Unauthorized modifications or repairs
  • Damage during shipping
  • Normal wear and tear, including image retention or “burn-in”

Return & RMA Policy

Note: A valid RMA number must be obtained before returning any product. Items returned without an RMA will be refused.

To return a product for credit:

  • Request an RMA within 30 days of the invoice date.
  • Products must be new and unused, with original packaging and accessories.
  • Restocking fees may apply if items are damaged or incomplete.
  • All return shipping is at the customer’s expense.
  • Outbound shipping charges from the original invoice are non-refundable.

RMA numbers are valid for 30 days from issue date. Items not listed in the original RMA will be returned at your expense.

Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy

Products are considered DOA if any of the following occur within 3 months of delivery:

  • No power
  • No image on screen
  • Control keypad is non-functional

DOA coverage is void if:

  • Accessories or cables are missing
  • Unauthorized parts are used
  • Warranty label or serial number is altered or removed

Please contact your Montek sales representative before returning any DOA item.

Receiving Notice & Product Condition

Q: What should I do if my package arrives damaged?
A: If your package appears damaged upon delivery:

  • Write “Box damaged” on the delivery receipt
  • Take clear photos of the box and damaged areas
  • Keep all original packaging
  • Contact us immediately with supporting documentation

This ensures your claim is properly protected and processed.

Q: Are items inspected before shipping?
A: Absolutely. All Montek orders undergo strict quality control prior to shipment. Please inspect your order upon arrival. If the inspection seal is broken or the product shows signs of damage (e.g., scratches, dirt, cracks), contact us right away.

Q: What should I do if I receive a defective or damaged product?
If an issue is discovered within the 30-day warranty period, please provide the following:

  • Date the issue occurred
  • Unboxing photos
  • Photos of the damaged product (with protective film intact)
  • Photo of the original box showing carton ID#
  • Panel Serial Number or shipping label
  • Invoice number
